One of Bortniansky’s best known sacred concertos, this substantial multi-movement “sacred concerto” contains some of this composer’s most lively contrapuntal writing, including (in the last movement) the closest thing to a full-blown fugue one is likely to find in a Russian sacred choral work. This concerto is a “staple” for Easter in a great many Russian Orthodox cathedrals. Suitable for Easter or general sacred use.
