Monuments of Russian Sacred Music
The Monuments of Russian Sacred Music series is an unprecedented cultural project aimed at gathering and preserving a vast choral tradition. Through these expertly edited volumes, performers and scholars around the world now have access to Russia's rich choral heritage, which spans over a millennium. Each volume has been compiled from sources that had been at risk of being extinguished during the Soviet era. The series employs the highest standards of scholarly editing and features extensive critical commentary in English and Russian. Texts appear in both the original Cyrillic and in a Roman-alphabet transliteration specifically designed by and for singers. Additionally, text translations and information on liturgical usage and performance practice are provided, making these volumes authentic and scholarly, yet practical and accessible.
