This piece is a powerful and prayerful extended work (10-11 minutes in length) based on selected verses from the Psalms. Following in the tradition of Bortniansky's sacred concertos, it uses different tempos and keys over several contrasting movements, employing word-painting and rich and colorful harmonies and textures typical of Gretchaninoff's other works. This is a major "program piece" that can constitute a separate section on a choral program by a fine college, university or professional choir.
