Chesnokov’s All-Night Vigil, composed in 1912, is an important precursor to Rachmaninoff’s cycle by the same name. This work is slightly less demanding than Rachmaninoff's setting. Chesnokov’s rich choral writing never fails to be rewarding to both singers and audiences.
