Christ Is Risen

This setting of the Paschal Troparion (theme song) is based on a Russian Old-Ritualist (Old Believer) chant melody recorded on tape during an actual service in one of the transplanted Old-Rite communities in the United States. Transcribed and translated into English, the melody appears three times, each time in a different voice, resulting in a late 20th-century (1981) synthesis of the ancient and contemporary.
