Anton Viskov b. 1965
VISKOV, Anton — b. 1965, in Moscow. Graduated from from the Moscow Conservatory, majoring in flute (class of Yuri Dolzhikov) and composition (class of Roman Ledeniov); also studied composition with Georgy Sviridov.
Anton Viskov is one of the most prolific contemporary choral composers in Russia today. He has over 200 sacred and secular compositions to his credit, among which are cantatas, oratorios, Liturgies, Masses, and Vespers, both a cappella and with organ and orchestral accompaniment. His works are frequently performed in various state and church ceremonies in the State Kremlin Palace and in the Hall of Christ the Savior Cathedral. His liturgical works are often performed during Orthodox church services and also in the Moscow cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church. He has also written music for over 250 documentary, animated, and feature films, as well as for various television and radio programs, chiefly of an historical, cultural, and educational nature. His musical works have been published by several Russian publishing houses, including “Muzyka,” “Kompozitor,” and others.
